If WCW were ever regretful for one thing it might be telling ‘The Phenom’ The Undertaker and ‘The Animal’ Batista that they would never ever draw money in wrestling. You just have to look at Undertaker’s three decades of accomplishments and Batista’s multiple World title reigns and WrestleMania main events in WWE to know WCW dropped the ball in hiring these two long-term.

‘Mean Mark’ Callous worked for WCW for less than a year in 1990, with few highlights to speak of in his tenure there from often being misused. Callous went to meet with WCW executives Jim Herd, Ole Anderson and Jim Barnett in the summer of 1990 about his stance in the company and to see what the chances were of getting his contract renewed. Callous wanted a little bump in pay, with Herd and Anderson and Barnett rejecting his request, looking him directly in the eyes and stating “Son, you’re a great athlete but nobody will ever pay money to see you wrestle.”

Dave Bautista got in the business to make money. He tried out at WCW’s Power Plant in 1999, paying 300 dollars out of his own money, which was a lot for him at the time, to just try out. It was there that head trainer Sgt. Buddy Lee ran him out of the door and insinuated he wouldn’t amount to anything in wrestling.

Bad call, guys.
