10 Bizarre WCW Stats, Facts And Coincidences That Really Happened
4. Did EZ Money Kill WCW And ECW?
The final ECW PPV to take place, Guilty as Charged, happened in January 2001.The company filed for bankruptcy not long after. Meanwhile the final WCW PPV Greed was held only a few months later in March. One week later the entire company folded too. What’s an odd coincidence is that EZ Money wrestled on both of these events.
EZ Money debuted for ECW in 2000 and soon formed the tag team ‘Hot Commodity’ with Julio Dinero. At Guilty as Charged they finally got an ECW World Tag Team Championship shot, only to lose to Danny Doring and Roadkill. As soon as ECW filed for bankruptcy EZ fled to WCW and wrestled under the name ‘Jason Jett’ in its last few months of running shows. He even got a small push too, competing and winning at Greed against Kwee Wee in the opening match. After WCW folded he scored a developmental contract with the WWF but was cut a year later.
You can make the argument EZ Money is somewhat cursed and the only reason the WWE are still in business today is because they never booked EZ on a PPV. It’s a solid argument.
