2. Ricki Starr On Mister Ed

One of the biggest stars of the '50s and '60s, Ricki Starr passed away recently. A talented but small amateur wrestler, he took up ballet, and when he migrated to pro wrestling, he integrated ballet into his act and it made him a sensation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQ-6ZCLFt7s In this episode of TV's finest talking horse themed-sitcom, Starr plays Tiger Davis, a struggling young wrestler. Wilbur and his friend Roger buy the contractual rights to manage him because...apparently it's a way people invested their money in the early 1960s? Tiger is a bit too effeminate for a lot of the wrestlers' tastes and is overeating, so he takes ballet to lose weight and, well, basically becomes Ricki Starr, except without the wrestling success, so he becomes a ballet star the episode just kind of ends all of a sudden. Presumably the contract only covers wrestling. "Managing an athlete" can occasionally be an investment in the sense of funding the training of a blue chip athlete or something similar, but Tiger Davis certainly wasn't that. Plus, Wilbur and Roger act like managing a wrestler is an investment akin to flipping a house or something similar. The economics of the situation are confusing to say the least.
