10 Most Bizarre Wrestler Guest Appearances On TV Shows
3. Bret Hart On The Simpsons
So we have a wrestler playing himself on The Simpsons, which is a pretty huge deal. It's a cartoon, but the art accurately renders him into the show's house style. It's a pretty memorable episode from the latter part of the show's golden years. So far, so good, right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C02mC05G6I Unfortunately, for some reason, most of the staff didn't know he was the WWF's biggest star at the time, and it was scripted as as some sort of evil Russian character. When Bret protested, he was told he had to read it as written, the way it came out of him during the voiceover session was some kind of terrible approximation of "angry pro wrestler voice." You can tell it's actually him, but it kind of ruins the bit. It wasn't until after he was done that someone found out how big a star he was and the decision was made to animate him as himself.
