10 Bizarro Commercials Featuring Wrestlers
7. Kane - Stacker 2
In a series of advertisements, a tubby Italian-American stereotype provokes ‘The Big Red Machine’ as an ad-hoc workout routine. This involves the keep fit noob heckling Kane at karaoke, mocking him for riding a scooter on a gentle summers day, and reprimanding him for trying to go through the express lane with too many items. The go-away message is that this is "a stupid way to burn fat," whereas Stacker 2 is the "smart way."
At this point in Kane's career he was a predominantly silent monster and it is bizarre seeing this incarnation involved in comedy skits, even if it was away from actual wrestling broadcasts. Nevertheless, seeing classic Kane give a karaoke rendition of John Denver’s Annie's Song (You Fill Up My Senses) is an image that will stay with viewers.
The scenarios depicted in the advertisement shows a side to Kane we rarely see, and even after repeated viewings we are unsure whether we actually wanted this. From the point of view of advertisement success, it is a campaign that will linger in the dark corners of the brain.
