5. Rick Steiner - Roos
Rick Steiner may be known under the moniker 'The Dog-Faced Gremlin', but it is still a bizarre experience seeing him leashed and down on all fours with Chihuahuas. Steiner goes full on method actor, gnawing on a bone and chasing a cat plush. For 99% of the wrestling community this would be an act of cringe and humiliation, yet, for Steiner, it works and is oddly entertaining. He just commits to it, making it a performance piece as much as a humorous advertisement. Steiner wearing Roos Shoes on his hands is a masterstroke of a move that presents a bizarre image that will stay with viewers.
The joke and punchline -
“What does Rick Steiner wear on his dogs?”
“ROOOOOOOOOS”
- is suitably awful. The shoes' unique selling point isn't revealed until late in the advert, when it is glossed over that Roos contain pockets.
In vein of the rest of the presentation, the advertisement ends with the implication that Steiner is going to p*ss on a fire hydrant.
Rick Steiner gets lots of credit for being a tough guy, but little for his comedic sensibility. However, when you have a living meme for a brother, this is understandable.
