10 BOLD Predictions For WWE In 2020

9. Shane McMahon Returns!

Bust-Up Triple H Vince McMahon

It must have been established—it must have been—that WWE is institutionally incapable of building new stars.

The part-time era, the chronically piss-poor booking of Roman Reigns, the impossible f*ck-up of the NXT-to-main roster call-up process: WWE cannot connect new prospective main event stars to the public because those new prospective main event stars hide themselves away from the public, in darkened rooms, in which they talk b*llocks and somehow don’t grasp that nobody has to pick a fight with you. You can pick a fight, with anybody, and receive a match by magic!

WWE only managing to cool off Becky Lynch—and not enforcing a heel turn—does not count.

The disturbing truth here is that Shane McMahon shifted tens and thousands of tickets to WrestleMania 32 upon his shocking 2016 return. He is Vince McMahon’s son. He performed in the Attitude Era. He is—shudder—a star, and if he didn’t come off like one this year, the quickest way to come off like a star in WWE is by getting the f*ck out of WWE. Somebody is getting a face-full of potatoes. Somebody is going to get drenched in sweat. Somebody is going to get their momentum as a babyface trapped in the sh*ttiest triangle choke you will ever see.

Shane O’Mac is the quickest, most amenable short-term fix available as a response to falling ratings, and those ratings will continue to fall…
