10 Bold Predictions For WWE In The Next 12 Months
5. Butch Returns To Being Pete Dunne
When Triple H was sitting at home recovering from his health scare, he was probably sobbing hysterically and screaming “What have they done to my boy!?” as Butch Scrappy Doo'ed his way to the ring.
Credit where credit is due, some of Vince McMahon’s changes that appeared bizarre at first have actually paid off - take Gunther, for example - but Pete Dunne’s makeover into Butch has not worked at all. Dunne was once a personal pet project of The Game, hand-picking the British star as the face of the NXT UK brand from its very inception.
Pete enjoyed a 685-day reign atop of the brand as the UK Champion before transitioning to NXT full-time and featuring prominently on the black and gold brand. The Bruiserweight seemed poised to ascend to superstardom and potentially become just the second man of British descent to win a WWE World Championship.
The Birmingham man can claim he is comfortable in his shoes as Butch all he wants, but we all know that Pete Dunne sounds a lot better than Butch when coming out of the ring announcer's mouth. Within the next 12 months, expect Butch to turn on his Brawling Brute partners and return to playing the Bruiserweight character and resume his role as a part of a Triple H passion project.
