10 Bold WWE Predictions For 2016

6. SmackDown Will Become WWE's Highest Rated Program

Right now, SmackDown is widely considered the B show in WWE, and rightfully so. A broadcast that typically has very little effect on anything else going on in the WWE Universe, it has been home to some very solid, very fun wrestling but not much more. Considering the show is debuting on USA Network in January 2016, management will be motivated to put more emphasis on the show. It will continue storylines from Monday's Raw and feature stars not typically seen on the Thursday night broadcast, as will be the case on night one as John Cena appears on the blue brand. Considering the fact that Raw ratings regularly take a nosedive during the third hour, fans disenfranchised by the three-hour run time and the ensuing Monday Night Football game garnering more of their attention, SmackDown will have the benefit from a more brisk two hour run time and the return of meaning to the broadcast. Most of all, they will not be faced with the competition that the most popular sport in the United States presents. Sure, there is Thursday Night Football but not all cable packages carry those games. And they would hardly be a problem come January anyway, barring some major matchup between teams in playoff contention. With all of that taken into account, the rebirth of SmackDown as a significant part of WWE programming, the renewed emphasis on telling intriguing stories and producing hot angles will add up to SmackDown garnering more viewers than its older brother on Monday nights.
