10 Booking Steps For Kenny Omega's WWE Debut
4. Reclaiming The Gold
With John Cena out of action and unable to take advantage of his rematch clause, the new number one contender will be the man who won the match of the evening at WrestleMania, AJ Styles. That will set them up for a championship match at Smackdown's first post-'Mania PPV offering, Extreme Rules.
AJ Styles and Samoa Joe are no strangers to each other, having crossed paths multiple times in TNA and Ring of Honor. This match will be their most high-profile contest yet, and while the feud will be enriched by the history between them, the bout will certainly stand on its own. Despite the fact that both men are pushing 40, it'll be a masterpiece of athleticism and psychology, with Styles eventually pinning Joe to become a two-time WWE Champion.
Elsewhere on the card, a furious Kenny Omega will be in action, beating Dean Ambrose in an Extreme Rules match. After Styles wins the title, though, "The Cleaner" will come out onto the stage and stare him down, a la Owen Hart at WrestleMania X.
