10 Booking Steps For WWE NXT (25 Sept)

4. Tag Team Traction

No um.. no tag team matches last week, despite the rude health the division currently finds itself in. Yes, you had O'Reilly and Fish involved in the finish of the North American Championship match, and I'm sure air-crash investigators can tell me that Street Profits and Forgotten Sons were probably involved in the finish of the Riddle/Dain disaster, but no actual matches to speak of.

The main roster has a serious problem with tag team wrestling - it's a constant afterthought, and even the titleholders disappear from TV for weeks on end when they're not being buried by singles stars - but mercifully that's not a disease that's been caught by NXT. Toronto's Profits vs. UE match was excellent, and the ladder match that proceeded it at XXV might well be one of the gimmick's greatest ever evenings.

Whoever's next in line, be that the Profits again, Moustache Mountain, or someone new entirely, needs to step up this week to get the ball rolling. An opening show without a tag team match (or, more importantly, a match from the tag team division) is OK, but two consecutive weeks would be a worry.
