10 Booking Steps For WWE NXT (25 Sept)

3. No Pain, No Dain

Matt Riddle Killain Dain

At the exact moment I'd finished writing this entry about why both Riddle and Dain need to move on from this feud, even without a clear and defined winner to it, WWE announced that they'd be taking part in a rematch of last week's main event. Truly, my friends, what hope is there.

Thing is, I have personally worked with both of these men and enjoyed their company immensely. They're arguably the two best wrestlers of their particular styles in all of NXT, and this feud should have been a captivating clash of styles and source of invention. But brawl after brawl has fallen flat now, and neither men are particularly well served by continuing it on. It's been a nice diversion for them both, but surely there are better uses for them. Surely? Surely.

Matt Riddle's best work in NXT has been in short-lived but highly charged feuds. Roderick Strong, Velveteen Dream, even the squashes with Ohno were really good, but three matches with Dain have now yielded next to nothing. If we have to get it again this week then please let that be the end of it.
