This is the kind of match that could happen multiple times without seeming boring. There's just something exciting about the WWE Intercontinental Title scene right now. Not only is The Miz a fine heel champion, but he's also being chased by a trio of viable replacements.

Dysfunctional would be the best way to describe this encounter, because even those teaming together wouldn't be able to get along. Kevin Owens clearly doesn't respect The Miz as champion, and Cesaro hit Sami Zayn with an errant uppercut on SmackDown. That all adds together to make one tasty situation.

Somehow, Miz and KO would be able to co-exist long enough to get the win, but the finish would cause controversy. Inviting Maryse to keep her nose out of things, Owens would be hurled from the ring by the champion, who could subsequently steal KO's thunder by pinning Cesaro.

Afterwards, both men would argue, before Sami Zayn planted the pair with a big dropkick from the top rope. Getting back to his feet, Cesaro would also join the fight as Maryse screamed for them to stop on the outside.
