It would only take one simple backstage promo to set this match up for Raw. Interrupting rising tensions between Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon behind the scenes, Rusev and Lana are furious that Roman Reigns "cheated" to win the WWE United States Title at Clash Of Champions.

Not willing to deal with any more stress, McMahon grants Rusev a rematch for the gold that evening. This makes the recently-married duo disappear temporarily, taking one minor load of pressure off the authority figures on the show. If nothing else, it'd also be a good match, as Rusev and Reigns have shown they can work well together in the past.

In one of the episode's longer matches, Roman comes out on top once more to retain his newly-won title. It's unclear just who WWE would position as the next opponent for Reigns should be become United States Champion, but it's hard to believe that he's going to come up short against Rusev at Clash Of Champions.

Here, one problem could be solved by having Rusev grow frustrated enough to crack Reigns with a steel chair. Drawing the disqualification would throw the Bulgarian into another fit of rage, but hint at another match down the line.
