3. Fastlane 2018 - Bálor Vs. Nakamura

AJ Styles vs. Finn Bálor is on the cards for WrestleMania 34, but a certain 'King of Strong Style' is also owed a WWE Championship match. Ever the credible fighting performer, Bálor challenges the youngest IWGP Heavyweight Champion in history to a match at Fastlane, with the winner going on to challenge AJ at WrestleMania 34.

Bálor also distances himself from the actions of Gallows and Anderson going into the event, going so far as to tell the two to stay out of his business. Bálor has moved on from what they were in Japan, and he doesn’t need them to compete at the highest level.

Bálor and Nakamura headline Fastlane and put on another classic match, as the hype surrounding Shinsuke Nakamura continues to be justified. Towards the end of the match the referee is knocked out, with Nakamura in control. Two hooded men hit the ring and put the boots to Nakamura, although the disguises are entirely superfluous - it is clearly Gallows and Anderson.

It is at this point revealed that Bálor, Gallows, and Anderson are in cahoots, bringing back a term that WWE used so liberally during the Attitude Era. Nakamura is hit with the Boot of Doom and the Magic Killer, with the referee coming round just in time to see Bálor hit the Coup de Grace. Finn Bálor wins, ending Nakamura’s WrestleMania dreams in the process.
