10 Bridge Burners You Will Never See In WWE Again

6. Jeff Jarrett

Jeff Jarrett left the WWF in 1999 with a princely sum of money he'd extorted from Vince McMahon in order to lose the Intercontinental title to Chyna. And, though the WWF even at that point never looked in danger of losing the ratings battle, these were times of war.

He was never allowed back into the fold, but then again, his star never shone to an extent that a return would see him slot in as a part-time WrestleMania headliner.

Jarrett had grown disgruntled by mid-1999. He thought his misogynist character and 'Slap Nuts!' catchphrase had done enough to warrant a top-card feud with 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. Jarrett was doubtlessly over at the point, in a very competitive environment no less, but Austin expressed reservations about the degree of his burgeoning stardom, and refused to sanction the programme.

In the end, Austin was proved right. Jarrett was synonymous with the failures of WCW, and contributed little to the product but a tired retread of the character he played in the WWF - which just wasn't main event material.

That McMahon, ordinarily quite defensive, never felt the need to throw a barb in the Jarrett-run TNA's direction confirms the extent to which Double J is outside of his radar.
