6. Goldberg Beats Down Mark Starr
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jrm5B2Vdy_g The Match: If you have seen one Goldberg squash match then you have basically seen them all. What made Goldberg unique is that WCW fed him legitimate superstars and made them all look like jobbers. In this match, Mark Starr is a very real jobber and guess what? He doesnt put up much of a fight. Goldberg busts out his usual high impact moveset of spastic kicks, press slams, jackhammers and spears on poor Mark Starr. Each maneuver seems just a little stiffer than usual since the Goldberg hype train is really rolling at this point in his career. Most Brutal Moment: Its always the spear. Goldberg just decides to use his professional football background and tackle Starr as hard as possible and pretend this is a wrestling move. Wrestlers sell spears today. Back then, no selling was necessary for this move. That thing looked awful. Final Thought: The initial Goldberg mystique was so successful initially because he went out to the ring and just absolutely drilled guys. Any fan could see that his moves hurt and he wasnt holding too much back. Eventually, his style had to change somewhat (can you imagine him hitting Hogan or Nash with a full force spear?) and his persona never really evolved past the wrestling terminator gimmick that was used to get him so over in the first place. Truthfully, wrestling shouldnt be about legitimately hurting guys and instead should be about the art of creating that illusion. Just dont tell Goldberg that fact.
