When the Ambrose Asylum talk show debuted a couple weeks back, it felt forced, like WWE was just trying to make a joke and let Dean Ambrose be “wacky” as he replaced Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel.

But since then, we’ve seen the Asylum return and get treated like an actual talk show – well, as much of one as any WWE talk show these days. That has to raise the question of whether we’re actually seeing the birth of a long-term talk show, or just a temporary vehicle for the duration of this Ambrose/Jericho feud.

WWE definitely has given Dean more mic time as he has grown into his current role as #2 babyface (among the full-time wrestlers), and one could certainly see Ambrose evolving into more of a Roddy Piper type if his talk show continues. But it also could be that the Asylum vanishes in a few weeks. We’ll have to stay tuned to see what happens.
