Bret Hart has long since said that SummerSlam 1992 was one of the most proud moments of his entire career. Not only was he headlining a major WWF pay-per-view in front of 80,000 fans in Wembley Stadium, but he was also doing so against his brother-in-law, Davey Boy Smith.

As The British Bulldog and the pride of a nation, Smith was certainly feeling the pressure heading into the London, England bout. This was something he disclosed to Hart beforehand, and even during the match he repeatedly told his peer that he was struggling to keep pace.

It required all of Bret's mastery to keep the match afloat, nevermind turn it into one of the greatest SummerSlam main events of all time. Without care for being selfish, Hart has since said that he's the reason why the clash was so exciting, because he led a knackered Bulldog through it.

Vince McMahon clearly agreed that Hart had worked wonders, giving him the WWF Heavyweight Title months later. Bret had proven himself to be a ring general during the match.
