10 Challengers Who Should Face CM Punk For The AEW World Championship
3. Bryan Danielson
Another man who crossed paths with Punk in his ROH days, it seems inevitable that Bryan Danielson will wrestle CM Punk in AEW, and sooner rather than later. In his media conference after Double or Nothing, Punk said that Bryan Danielson is "number one, with a bullet" on the list of AEW wrestlers he wants to step into the ring with. Before long, these two men will lock up, and the AEW Championship should be on the line.
Punk's time in AEW has seen the company's three most-bought pay-per-views, with Double or Nothing 2022 likely joining that list. A Punk vs Danielson PPV main event would be a win-win for company and fans alike when The Second City Saint returns.
The two men wrestled four singles matches on the indies and six on WWE TV/PPVs. Their eleventh match should be the biggest and best; the main event spot they didn't get on a WWE PPV, and the platform their indy encounters couldn't achieve. The careers of these two men are linked, from their time in Ring of Honor to their rises in WWE, and now AEW. This would be one of the greatest matches in AEW history.
