WWE, and wrestling as a whole, has always been about the live event. While nothing beats going to a wrestling show and seeing it for yourself, theres something really fun in watching something live as opposed to on-demand. Especially in todays society when so much of our interaction with our friends is through social media, the shared experience of watching something as it happens is more important than ever. WWE doesnt broadcast too many live events beyond the pay-per-views on the Network, but the ones they do have proved to be surprisingly popular. WWE Main Event has gained a new lease on life on WWE Network, and NXT has transformed from the developmental territory for talent before they get to Raw, into a viable separate brand for people frustrated with the tropes and cliches of mainstream WWE wrestling. Live content has proved incredibly popular on WWE Network, so WWE should seriously consider looking into producing more of it. It was surprising that the new deal with NBC Universal didnt include Raw and SmackDown on the WWE Network, but it doesnt have to be wrestling. The recent Edge And Christians 15th Anniversary SmackDown Special That Totally Reeks Of Awesomeness was a live clip show that was incredibly well received by fans, so WWE should consider expanding the horizons when it comes to live content.
