10 Cheesy WrestleMania Moments You Totally Don't Remember

2. The Instant Replay Debate

It might not be cheese suits or pillow fights, but it damn sure is excruciating to watch. If you’re upset about Kid Rock concerts or Deadliest Catch commercials taking up valuable WrestleMania time, both of those are preferable to this ear-scraping awfulness.

You see, the NFL had recently reinstated the use of instant replays as a way of determining a call, a controversial decision that was widely debated by industry professionals and pundits. Not wanting to let such a hot angle escape un-lampooned in WWF, Vince McMahon decided to host a similar debate at WrestleMania VII. The ‘Macho King’ Randy Savage had cost Ultimate Warrior his title by hitting him over the head with a sceptre at the Royal Rumble, so Vince called in Yankees owner George Steinbrenner and NFL analyst Paul Maguire (billed as Paul McGuire) to discuss the pros and cons of instant replay within professional wrestling.

It could have been a good joke, ignoring the fact that instant replays would ensure no heel ever won a match again.

It wasn’t.

It was an overly long and unfunny one-note skit filled with childish puns and references to old NFL games, and it ended with a cut to the Bushwhackers in the ‘replay room’, screaming and covered in film reel.
