10 CHIKARA Wrestlers WWE Fans Need To Discover

4. The Colony

Deciding on a single ant to put in was too difficult, so I've gone with the whole Colony. Chances are, if you only know one thing about CHIKARA Pro Wrestling it will be the fact that it has a number of wrestling ants. Whilst this seems a little ridiculous on the surface, the ants themselves have an incredibly complex history and complex present. Initially comprising of Fire Ant and Soldier Ant, Worker Ant would soon join them as the trio became one of the most entertaining aspects of most CHIKARA shows. In 2009 Green Ant arrived, taking the place of Worker Ant who was put out of commission by Chuck Taylor and F.I.S.T (Friends in Similar Tights). This was the most successful era for the Colony, with the Campeonatos de Parejas and King of Trios titles coming their way. All good things end though, and as CHIKARA began to unravel in late 2012 so did the Colony. Soldier Ant became estranged from the other two, with assailANT muscling in on the territory. assailANT would eventually come good and become the second Worker Ant. After a brief hiatus, Soldier Ant returned in 2014 but returned to the dark side, attacking Green, Fire and Worker Ant. Oh, and Green Ant has now become Silver Ant. All complexities aside, the Colony is a true staple of CHIKARA, and a must-know for sure.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
