10 Classic Jeff Jarrett Matches You Need To See

9. Vs Razor Ramon (WWE Royal Rumble 1995)

Constantly pushed as the promoter's son and middling Memphis legend in his formative years, Jeff Jarrett took longer than expected getting out of the blocks cast as Vince McMahon's country music douchebag. As with many musicians finally hitting all the right notes, it was a 'Roadie' that proved to be an unsung hero.

Liberally running interference after debuting in December 1994, Brian James' perfectly understated portrayal of a sh*t-stirring sidekick would ultimately become one of the most influential figures in 'Double J's WWE trajectory, emphasised exquisitely in his shocking upset of Razor Ramon at January 1995's Royal Rumble.

The match initially seemed to telegraph an easy night for Intercontinental Champion Razor Ramon until Jarrett dodged a charge from 'The Bad Guy' that sent him careering out to the arena floor. Hitting his knee hard upon landing, Ramon didn't even have time to assess his damage before The Roadie darted through his wounded appendage from behind.

The clip resulted in a count-out win for Jarrett, but the desperate challenger coaxed the game titleholder into restarting the match. Razor's courage spelled his demise. Jeff used his Figure Four Leglock to punish the weakness before capitalising on Ramon's inability to deliver The Razor's Edge. Sneaky at the last, Jarrett merely fell on top to scoop his first ever secondary strap.
