10 Classic Jeff Jarrett Matches You Need To See

4. Vs The 1-2-3 Kid (WWE King Of The Ring 1994)

Jarrett was on fine form even in first round defeat against The 1-2-3 Kid, as most were when they squared off against the company's human litmus test during the mid-1990s.

Sean Waltman's skills were so superlative back then that he was routinely used to determine if a potential colleague had 'it' - the intangible skill separating the standard from the superstars. Shane 'Dean' Douglas fell afoul of Kid and Kliq derision a year later, but he presumably had nothing but glowing praise for his future Attitude Era rival after their punctuated punch-up gobbled up early show plaudits.

The two did an awful lot with a little, cramming in a giant-killing triumph in under five minutes. The shock of Kid's victory played into vile follow-through from Jarrett and the rookie's show long angle. 'Double J' dropped Kid with a trio of wicked piledrivers; ordinarily the guarantee of a morgue visit in his Memphis locale.

Kid lumbered out for an equally brisk sh*tkicking from Owen Hart in the Semi Finals, the brutal extent of the beating received still reverberating around his fragile frame.
