Fandango's initial dancing gimmick always had a limited shelf life, but it looked like WWE were setting him up for big things early on. His feud with Chris Jericho was atrocious, and largely revolved around Y2J deliberately mispronouncing his name, but it led to a singles match at WrestleMania XXIX, and the chance to mint 'Dango as a main roster star.

The future Fashion Police officer overcame Jericho that night, and "Fandango-ing" became a viral sensation. Buildings around the country were taken over by fans chanting his infectious theme music, and the song shot from #175 to #11 in the UK singles chart within the space of a day. He was an overnight sensation, but his momentum quickly nosedived.

Jericho defeated Fandango in a rematch at Extreme Rules 2013, undoing what should've been the newcomer's springboard, and ending their feud. 'Dango's push soon went down the drain, and he was eventually booked in a lengthy losing streak angle, effectively transforming him into a novelty jobber. Several years in the lower-midcard abyss followed, and it took Fandango until the advent of the Fashion Files in 2017 to finally find a consistent role again.
