10 CM Punk Dream Matches We Still Hope Will Happen

While we live in hope, it will always be clobbering time.

CM Punk AJ Styles
WWE

A CM Punk return would be bombastic. Ratings would soar, crowd reactions (if applicable) would be deafening, and history would be made.

Yet at the same time, the pressure would be on for Phil Brooks to prove himself all over again. After the hype, the work would commence, and arguably the best way for The Best in the World to carve his name back on the landscape, and not be a fleeting draw with limited shelf-life, would be for him to muscle in with the new blood.

Several superstars have made waves in the WWE since Punk's 2014 departure. Should this return take place, WWE had better not mess around. It might be acceptable for him to GTS Triple H once, just to settle old scores. But after this, CM Punk needs to be booked straight into the matches and feuds that the fans have been dreaming over for the past six years. Nothing less will do.

If WWE botch this opportunity, Mr Brooks may just receive a call from a gentleman named Cody. Stranger things have happened, and worse things too.

10. Adam Cole

CM Punk AJ Styles
WWE

Adam Cole's tenure as a stable leader and NXT champion has rendered him quite the narcissist, so much to the point that he's set to run through pretty much any kind of opposition. We all love the Undisputed Era, but Cole is destined to one day evolve from that faction and onto even bigger heights, such is the classic springboard of stable leadership.

Not only does this have echoes of CM Punk's rise from the Straight Edge Society and The New Nexus, but Punk and Cole could also be considered the same mould from different realities. They are lean, defiant, outspoken, and brimming with ego. Should Punk ever set foot back in a WWE ring, Adam Cole would be the prime candidate for him to clash with. Though respecting each others' ability and legacies, there would be no complementary exchanges during a feud.

The match would consist of some hard kicks, some heavy brawling, and a mutual refusal to quit. Both are known for their quick wits and their risk-taking, which means there would be no shortage of "Holy sh*t" moments in the match.
