Before coming to WWE, CM Punk used the Pepsi Plunge as a finishing move. This wasn’t going to fly in WWE however, for a number of reasons - one is that it was similar to Triple H’s Pedigree, albeit delivered from the top rope. The second is that the move was simply just too dangerous.

Therefore, throughout his WWE career CM Punk used the Go To Sleep as his finisher. From where did this move come? Well, none other than current NXT superstar, Hideo Itami.

Itami hinted at using the move when he first arrived in NXT, but since his latest return from injury he has managed to hit it on a number of occasions. ‘CM Punk’ chants still ripple through arenas when he does, although that is lessening over time as the former KENTA takes the move back.

A Punk/Itami match would have been something special without the finisher intrigue, but a battle over the GTS makes the whole idea all the more fascinating.
