Remember him? Yes, the Canadian who happens to be the best pure babyface in wrestling (still) is up next on the list. What are WWE doing with Sami Zayn? More to the point, why aren’t WWE doing anything with Sami Zayn? The neglect of Zayn is going to be one of the biggest mistakes of 2017.

Zayn began making a name for himself on the independent scene just as Punk left, so their paths never crossed. As mentioned previously, Punk proved himself to be a top tier babyface and an all-time great heel. We’ve yet to see Zayn as a heel, but face Sami vs. heel Punk surely has money all over it.

The match itself? Come on now, just think about it. Sami Zayn doesn’t have bad matches (unless his opponent is Baron Corbin or Stardust), and Punk was the sort of worker who could make a good match great. These two would create a similar atmosphere to the Zayn/Nakamura match at TakeOver: Dallas in 2016, a match that had fans salivating before the bell even rang.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
