Another candidate to face Goldberg at WrestleMania 31 would be John Cena. While the match might suffer from the obvious lack of technical wrestling skill utilised by wrestlers such as Daniel Bryan, it would most certainly compensate for this in wrestling 'spectacle.' Imagine the reaction of the WrestleMania 31 audience as the face of the modern WWE in John Cena, wrestles the man who some would label as the face of WCW in Goldberg. Of course it is unlikely that Cena would enter the match as anything other than a 'baby face', which might force the WWE to subsequently promote the returning Goldberg as a heel. After all the WWE Universe might find this particular match up as awkward as Cena vs The Rock at WrestleMania 28 and 29 to cheer for and invest emotionally in a match between two super fan favourites. The natural solution to this dilemma would be to introduce Goldberg as a heel, however there might be certain instances in which the WWE Creative Team might wish to create a Goldberg gimmick closer to a neutral character in which he is not a 'fan favourite' but nor is he an 'outright heel.' Perhaps the best way in which this match could work out positively for all involved would be for Goldberg to revert to his original 'silent heel' gimmick of his former WCW days. This would allow Cena to remain fan favourite as a face and Goldberg to return as a fan favourite as a heel. In any event this match could prove to be a creative minefield, but if developed correctly could be a main event match in its own right.
