10 Contenders To Replace Daniel Bryan As WWE SmackDown General Manager

9. Finlay

Finlay WrestleMania 22

There are a lot of characteristics that a potential General Manager must possess. He or she needs to be physically and mentally tough in order to deal with a rough roster of physical specimens. The candidate must command respect, otherwise the superstars of SmackDown simply won’t listen to their supposed ‘superior’. It would also be ideal if the would-be GM has in-ring experience, as empathy goes a long way in management.

WWE has a lot of individuals under contract, but not many tick all three of those boxes as convincingly as Finlay. The Belfast bruiser, himself a former WWE United States Champion and SmackDown Live competitor, currently works as an agent for the company. Could he be enticed to make a return in front of the camera?

Finlay would make for an extremely commanding and authoritative General Manager. The fighting Irishman knows how to gain the respect of his peers, whether through hard work or sheer brutality. SmackDown Live would be a much tighter ship with Finlay in charge.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
