10 Contenders To Replace Daniel Bryan As WWE SmackDown General Manager

8. David Otunga

What is David Otunga's purpose? He started the summer as a commentator, but Booker T came in to replace him while the Harvard Law School Graduate went off to film a movie. That was supposed to take six weeks, but months have now passed. Otunga is now little more than a pre-show analyst, and Booker is still confusing everyone on RAW every Monday night.

WWE has tried and tried and tried to shoehorn David Otunga into a role on TV, but nothing seems to have fit. He was sub-standard in the ring and even more disappointing on commentary. The closest he has come to being something approaching ‘good’ was when he was John Laurinaitis’ legal advisor - could a return to authority be Otunga’s saving grace?

It is hard to see where David Otunga fits in WWE today. The prevailing feeling is that if it wasn’t for the celebrity status of his spouse, the Carlton Banks of WWE would be out of a job. A run as SmackDown General Manager may be his last hope.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
