10 Contenders To Replace JBL On WWE SmackDown Live

1. Mauro Ranallo

Far and away the most popular choice for this spot, there is an overriding feeling that Mauro Ranallo should never have been removed in the first place. There would be a sweet irony in Ranallo replacing John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield behind the desk of course, taking his spot just months after JBL was reportedly so instrumental in Ranallo’s initial move.

WWE would also get the added boost of promoting arguably the hottest voice in combat sports today. Ranallo was the main announcer for the recent ‘boxing’ match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, and a more prominent role on WWE TV seems like a no-brainer for the company.

It all comes down to whether Mauro wants it or not. After doing such a good job on Mayweather/McGregor, Ranallo is in a position of real strength. WWE should be bending over backwards trying to get him back on SmackDown Live, and they won’t have a more opportune moment to do just that.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
