As soon as news broke of John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield’s departure, Renee Young’s name was the first one to be championed as a possible replacement. Young is another integral part of SmackDown Live, working as a backstage interviewer after her excellent run as host of Talking Smack. Oh Talking Smack, how we all miss you…

Renee herself has said that she doesn’t feel like she did a good job commentating on NXT, but the decision may not be hers to make. Young seems like one of the most adaptable performers in the entire company, and the introduction of a female voice would be another refreshing move made on the blue brand.

The fact that Lita was chosen to do commentary on the Mae Young Classic may not be a good sign though, as many assumed that position was Renee Young’s to turn down. If she did decline the role, then the chances of her taking the SmackDown gig would be slim to none - but Renee is another good option already working on SmackDown Live.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
