10 Coolest Day Jobs Of WWE Stars Before They Made It

9. Sgt. Slaughter Was A Marine Corps Sergeant

During his heyday, Sgt. Slaughter was one of the most popular Superstars in Vince McMahon's company. He was an American icon for many fans that respected his work and admired his intensity. However it was Slaughter's patriotism and his role as an American hero that truly caused fans to rally behind him every time he was in the ring. Slaughter was literally a G.I. Joe and it was that image that propelled his career despite what company he has ever worked for. Indeed, when it comes to the most successful patriotic gimmicks of all time, Slaughter's name is consistently ranked number one among many fans. However before Slaughter became a pro wrestler, he was actually a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. The man that was so believable and so realistic as a hard nosed solider had been just that in his earlier days. This was definitely a case of art imitating life. Sgt. Slaughter served his country honorably and when the time came for him to move on with his life, he decided to serve the fans as well. Slaughter is a legend because of his accomplishments in the ring but he's an American hero because of who he is as a character. Of course that character is not just a gimmick; it's actually him.
