10 Craziest Spots In WWE Backlash History

9. Dean Malenko Super DDTs Scotty 2 Hotty (2000)

Not only is this one of the most underrated matches of all time, but this incredible ending is flagrantly overlooked when people talk about dangerous spots.

After a brilliant slow burner of a match that merged some old-school storytelling tactics with a bunch of genuinely breathtaking spots - for example, a nasty superplex that somehow didn't leave a Scotty Too Hotty-sized hole in the mat - it was time for this odd couple to deliver the big finish.

Scotty was positioned on the top rope, ready to deliver a superplex of his own, but Malenko reversed it at the last second. It was a spine-crunching move that folded the master of The Worm up like an accordion and sent shockwaves of gasps and cheers through the crowd.

J.R.'s guttural "Oh my God!" on commentary was at least partially genuine, as that kind of impact coming off the top rope is devastating, and not something that would probably fly in today's WWE.
