Sometimes you really have to admire the WWE's flair for over-dramatics. If this had been any two mid-carders going at it - say Matt Hardy and MVP - this same spot would've been treated with an almost casual reaction. "Oh boy, there goes that Mr. Hardy being extreme and tackling someone off the stage again", the announcers would say.

But because this was two of the top men in the company - one of which hadn't taken a bump this brutal in quite some time - they pulled out all the stops. Equipment exploded, sparks went flying, pillars came crashing down, and the announcers reacted as if they'd just witnessed an actual car wreck.

And you know what? It...was...awesome.

Props to the way everyone involved sold the impact of these two crashing to the ground. Given the theatrics, it was right that neither man was able to get to their feet and win the match.

The fact that this was how a Last Man Standing match between The Undertaker and Batista was allowed to end is actually pretty admirable from a booking standpoint.
