10 Craziest Things Vince McMahon Has Ever Said To Wrestlers

9. Rusev Wasn't Over; Silly Man Just Thought He Was

Rusev Day was never a Yes! Movement - it remains excruciating, incidentally, to summarise months and months of obnoxious and arrogant television with the term WWE coined as a means of pretending it was a work of their fiction - but it was similar in both spirit and principle.

The fans formed a connection with a star act which, in a less beyond-f*cked world, is ideal. Rusev was a clearly talented and amiable dude miscast in a heel role. The fans rallied behind him in a bid to change that. "Rusev Day! Rusev Day!" they would chant, charmed as they were by what was in retrospect a fairly inspired running joke that Rusev could insert into any promo, on literally any day of the week, to pop them. But a babyface push wasn't "in the plans," which is always such an odd excuse when there aren't any.

When Rusev cited this to Vince as evidence that he had earned a better spot on the card, Vince told Rusev that those fans were "patronising" him. That is an interpretation of a narrative so wild that it speaks very much to Vince's utter detachment from a reality that simply isn't convenient enough for him.

Vince has clearly no-sold reality before.

Those fans were simply so spellbound by Triple H's 25 minute WrestleMania epics that the breath they held could not escape to form these things we know as "sounds".
