Time for the most insane moment in pro wrestling: the event that saw one of the WWFs most charismatic and popular stars actually die in the ring, just off camera At WWFs Over The Edge pay-per-view on April 5th 1999, Owen Hart, youngest and best of the legendary Hart boys, was due to play his masked Blue Blazer persona, fronting up to The Godfather over the Intercontinental championship. It wasnt enough for WWF to have the Blazer sprint to the ring, though. No, they were going to have this rubbish superhero character rappel down from the arenas ceiling, only to become stuck just above the ring canvas and then to cut himself free with the harness quick release trigger to fall onto his nose in a classic bit of slapstick. Tragically, that wasnt how things would play out. A couple of foot ino the fall, the trigger released on its own.
