6. The Gulf Of Mexico

As we've literally just touched upon, wrestling, and WWE in particular, has a weird fascination when it comes to throwing people into large bodies of water.

Years before Bray Wyatt got his hands on Braun Strowman in a swamp, CM Punk and Chavo Guerrero were again proving this to be the case as the two collided in a, and I quote (Michael Cole would be proud), "Gulf of Mexico match". The two would begin the encounter inside of an ECW ring back in February 2008 before battling through the crowd and out of the arena in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The rules to this one were fairly self-explanatory; the first person to be launched into the Gulf of Mexico lost. Scaring off some folks enjoying a spot of fishing nearby, it was Punk who came away dry on the night, with then-ECW Champion Chavo being emphatically GTS'd into the ocean basin.

It may not have been the sort of "extreme" those who originally fell in love with ECW all those years ago were used to, but this match allowed Punk to make a helluva splash... in more ways than one.
