The rise of women’s wrestling has been one of the most exciting aspects of WWE programming in recent years, but WWE’s struggles with promoting their female competitors are well-known. Things were particularly problematic in the Attitude Era, when the women were pushed almost entirely on aesthetics and forced to compete in demeaning Bra & Panties and Evening Gown matches.

Lita and Trish Stratus were subjected to more than their fair share of embarrassment throughout their careers, but they were instrumental in laying the groundwork for the eventual Revolution. Their long-term feud remains one of the most compelling women’s rivalries in wrestling history, and they took the division to a stunning new level in July 2000.

Trish’s T&A team were embroiled in a rivalry with the Dudley Boyz and Hardys, whom Lita was affiliated with. They found themselves brawling in the ring on an episode of Raw, it was a Hardys/Dudleys segment, so of course ladders and chairs were involved.

While the men battled each other, the ladies started trading fists. Somehow, the duo found themselves atop a ladder, and with Lita at her mercy, Trish pushed Lita from the ladder and down through a table. It was the first time the WWF’s women had taken such extreme measures, and a high point in Lita and Trish’s early rivalry.
