10 Crazy WWE Raw Moments You Totally Don't Remember

3. Shane McMahon Tries To Kill Kane

Commissioner, wrestler, sneakerhead: Shane McMahon is many things, but murderer definitely isn’t on the list. He came within a hair of adding an on-air homicide to his resume in August 2003, however, and if Shane had his way that night, Kane wouldn’t be walking the Earth today.

Having just defeated Eric Bischoff in a Street Fight at SummerSlam, Shane was wrestling Chris Jericho on Monday Night Raw. The Big Red Machine suddenly hit the ring and attacked the prodigal son, just four weeks after delivering his mother, Linda, a Tombstone Piledriver on the stage.

The fight spilled outside the ring and the duo made their way to the back. Shane got more than his fair share of strikes on Kane as he battled for his life, but things soon took a nightmarish turn. With Shane at his mercy, Kane set a dumpster ablaze and dangled his foe overhead, but McMahon found a way to slip out.

Kane lost his balance, and Shane dropkicked him into the fire. Uttering the words “burn in hell, you son of a b****,” Shane showed flashes of the monster he’d just eliminated, but Kane survived. The Big Red Machine returned shortly after, and defeated Shane in consecutive matches at Unforgiven and Survivor Series.
