10 Creepy Things You Need To Know About WWE Superstars

4. Wade Barrett Was Stabbed After A Bare-Knuckle Fight

In wrestling, it can be hard to tell fact from fiction, so sometimes, it's easier to just assume that everything we're being told is a fabrication. Unfortunately, throwing the baby out with the bathwater like that means closing one's eyes to some very interesting stories. Case in point, the life of Wade Barrett. Barrett really did compete as a bare-knuckle boxer across Europe, and incorporated that part of his past into his character at the behest of Dusty Rhodes. After one event in which Barrett won a significant cash prize, he was attacked by a would-be thief brandishing a knife. Though Barrett has refused to elaborate on the incident at length, he has stated that he suffered a 12-inch gash on his back (along with significant blood loss)... and that he escaped with the money. Allegedly, his attacker was seriously injured. Barrett's near-demise is little more than a story now, but it's still a very real, very unsettling piece of his history. If nothing else, though, it teaches everyone a valuable lesson: messing with Wade Barrett leads to serious bad news.
