10 Current NXT Stars Who Will Struggle On WWE's Main Roster
4. Johnny Gargano
We know: two weeks ago Johnny Gargano shared the best WWE match in more than six years (according to Dave Meltzer, anyway) when he tore the house down alongside Andrade Almas at TakeOver: Philadelphia.
But having great matches in the developmental ranks is no guarantee of main roster success. For evidence of this, you only have to look at the fortunes of Neville and Tyler Breeze, who received similar acclaim for their NXT performances three years ago.
The problem with Gargano isn't so much that he lacks any major tools, but simply that he will probably be making the step up to the main roster at the same time as contemporaries Adam Cole, Aleister Black and, of course, the aforementioned Andrade Almas.
By the laws of wrestling, they can't all be pushed at the same time, and Gargano - who, until recently, had little backing as a singles star - seems the most likely of them to get the Sami Zayn treatment. That is to say that, while he'll be an unsung member of the roster, main event glory will be forever out of reach.
