Any wrestler on the planet who strives to be the very best in the business ideally wants to be taking on the cream of the crop whenever possible.

That's how you solidify your legacy and make yourself a household name, after all.

Would Hulk Hogan have become 'Immortal' had he not battled against the likes of Andre the Giant, The Ultimate Warrior and 'Macho Man' Randy Savage? You can bet that 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin wouldn't have become the biggest star in the business if he didn't regularly get the chance to throw down with legends such as Bret Hart and The Undertaker.

Iconic showdowns define superstars, but which current wrestlers are on the 'to-wrestle' lists of the modern day performer?

Some talents desperately want to prove themselves against stars who have redefined the business, whereas others just want to go toe-to-toe with a childhood idol.

Whatever the reasons, every single professional wrestler working today would jump at the chance to work with any of the following ten illustrious names and some of them may even be lucky enough to do so in the very near future.

10. Rey Mysterio

When the high flying small fry known as Rey Mysterio sprung onto the scene back in the early '90s, few could have predicted just how important the masked sensation would be for the generation which followed him.

In proving that size wasn't everything, Mysterio inspired the likes of AJ Styles, Ricochet and countless others to push the limits on what was possible inside the squared circle.

Mysterio has become an idol for so many stars because of this and you can bet that absolutely any performer currently plying their trade in the business would be more than happy to test themselves against one of the most important figures in wrestling history.

The iconic luchador is still being thrown into clashes against superstars such as Brock Lesnar and being used to get over rising talents like Andrade and Angel Garza, which more than highlights just how many different performers are still dying to take on the ultimate underdog.

In a perfect world, we'd be treated to another 20 years of Mysterio defying the laws of ageing and gravity. However, at 45 years-old, Mysterio may only have a few dream matches left in his locker.
