10 Current Stars Who Should Have Been WWE Champion By Now
3. Wade Barrett
The Nexus demolition of the Monday Night Raw main event is still one of the most shocking and exciting moments in the shows 1000+ episode run. It was violent and scary in a way wrestling rarely gets a chance to be, and immediately solidified eight new stars to take notice of. Of those eight stars, Wade Barrett stood head and shoulders above the rest. He arrived main event ready, and as the leader of Nexus, he went toe-to-toe with the likes of Randy Orton, Sheamus and John Cena. During The Nexus time as an active unit, Wade Barrett received numerous WWE Championship opportunities but John Cena cost him every single match bar one. As a result, The Nexus never truly felt threatening and Cena just came across as kind of a bully. The simple way to fix the lack of bite in The Nexus bark would have been to get the WWE Championship onto Barrett. Nothing ever felt at stake because John Cena kneecapped them at every opportunity, but with Barrett as champion Cena would at least have odds to overcome.
