10 Current Top WWE Talents Who Are Missing A Truly Classic Match
3. Shinsuke Nakamura
The difference between the Shinsuke Nakamura who was able to explode through matches in NJPW and the one we've been subjected to in the last couple of years is startling.
It's not like he suddenly altered his style as soon as he signed for Vince McMahon's company, either. On NXT, 'The King of Strong Style' was still pummelling opponents and lacing some serious drama into his wars against Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn.
Yet, as soon as he arrived on SmackDown Live in 2017, something seriously changed and we haven't seen that same beautifully brutal Nakamura since.
Some suggested that he had been told to turn down his destructive style, while others claimed that the star was simply preserving himself as he crept towards his 40s. Regardless of the reason, the closest thing we got to the Nak of old was his blow-off against AJ Styles at Money in the Bank 2018 and even that was the best of a 'meh' bunch of clashes from a feud which should've showcased two of the very best of their generation.
Nakamura has been consistently putting on average-to-good clashes for years now and it seems like any hope of a game-changing WWE classic involving the former IC Champion may be lost.
