Back during the glory days of the 'Attitude Era', things seemed to mean more, or so reasons the lapsed fan this article focuses on. Altogether, things felt more special and much grander, as opposed to the more controlled brand of product that WWE seems to much prefer in the modern era. Take Steve Austin's initial confrontation with Mike Tyson, for example. Austin was a huge star by 1998, and Tyson was named the 'Baddest Man On The Planet' after controversially biting a chunk of Evander Holyfield's ear off during a World Title boxing match the previous year. Putting them together in an angle on Raw Is War was genius, and the crowd reacted in kind, knowing their hero (Austin) was going to have a dig at the incoming boxer. The buzz was tremendous, even watching the clip of the segment on YouTube gives goosebumps, and that kind of thing was commonplace back then. Now, those moments are few and far between - the teasing of a reunion by The Shield at Payback elicited an unbelievable response from the live crowd, one which translated through TV to the viewer at home. That should be happening more.
