6. MVP

This may come as a bit of a surprise to some, but had MVP never spent time in the slammer, there's a good chance we would have never gotten to see his talents within the squared-circle.

The future United States Champion was sent down at the age of 16 for his part in robbing a casino on a cruise ship. MVP would then go on to serve 9-and-a-half years of his 18-and-a-half years sentence for one count of armed robbery and ten counts of armed kidnapping. Yet, it was during this time when he met Daryl Davis, a correction officer who was also an independent wrestler.

Davis would bring in tapes of matches for MVP and other inmates to watch, and the star would later go on to train with him upon being released from prison.

Seeing how far the multi-talented performer has come today, producing stellar work in the likes of WWE, NJPW, Impact Wrestling, and even earning himself a brown belt in BJJ, acts as a reminder that even those who make terrible mistakes at a young age can turn their life around in the end.
