10 Current WWE Superstars Who Should Be World Champion In The Next Year
2. Sami Zayn
Right, one last NXT Champion. This is the final one of the list, for sure, and what a champion this man is. Sami Zayn is the most obvious babyface you will ever see on WWE TV, from the ska theme song to the incredible ring work to his extensive journey to make it to the big time. Yet here he is, shining as one of the best heels in the company.
Like my final entrant, Zayn has been absolutely outstanding in the last twelve months. The zany Castro gimmick just clicks perfectly, and the thinking man's heel is finally being used correctly in WWE again. Not since his best friend/worst enemy/best friend/(extend until the end of time), Kevin Owens, has a bad guy been made to look like the babyfaces' intellectual equal. Those Clash Of Champions antics were just beautiful.
Multiply his wonderfully cracked IC champ heel persona by twenty when he wins at main event level, and watch him make moments both on the microphone and between the ropes. The feuds write themselves, as every wrestler Sami stepped on as he clambered to the mountaintop form an orderly queue to kick the living hell out of him. Marvellous.
